Zimbabwe and Belarus are advancing a bilateral cooperation framework that will see Harare’s grain storage infrastructure modernised, alongside a push to secure vaccines and eventually establish a local manufacturing facility.
The initiative, announced on 23 August 2026, targets improvements to the capital’s grain silos and storage systems, a move expected to strengthen national food security and reduce post-harvest losses. Belarusian technical expertise and equipment will support the upgrades.
In addition to grain storage, the two nations are exploring vaccine supply arrangements, with a longer-term goal of setting up a vaccine production plant in Zimbabwe. This would bolster the country’s health security and reduce dependence on imported vaccines.
Harare residents and farmers stand to benefit from more reliable storage capacity, which can stabilise grain prices and ensure steady supply during lean seasons. Further details on timelines and investment are expected as implementation progresses.
